Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Foge Organic Natural - 250g
Foge is a washing station in the Gedeb area of eastern Yirgacheffe — one of Ethiopia's most storied coffee regions and the spiritual home of the world's finest natural process coffees. Alongside the washing station, the family have recently established their own farm in the area, pursuing specialty production with a clear vision for quality. All coffee here is certified organic, traditionally produced and sun-dried on raised beds.
The operation is run by siblings Tsedenia and Fikadu, second-generation coffee people who grew up in Yirgacheffe town, immersed in the trade their whole lives. Their family's export business — spanning six washing stations across Yirgacheffe and Guji — was built by their father, and this generation is now pushing further into specialty, improving livelihoods for the farmers they work with along the way.
The result in the cup is dark, dense, and deeply satisfying: crème brûlée and nut butter richness layered over blackcurrant and dried stonefruit, with floral notes running throughout. Intense and punchy as a black coffee; full-bodied enough to cut through milk with ease. Exceptional as either espresso or filter.
